The Rio Hotel has a deal with the Sapphire Club, so that one of the hotel's pools is populated by off-duty dancers; but the scene doesn't seem to have gelled yet - it's just a bunch of dudes paying ($50 on weekends) to ogle strippers getting a tan. There's also Rehab, the party on Sunday at the Hard Rock, which has become a disgustingly overcrowded spring-break spectacle - a drunken, wet frat party - though there's something to be said for that. The Brooklyn-born actor perhaps best known for his role as Bobby Baccalieri on HBO's The Sopranos had just arrived at the boozy grand-opening party for the newly rebranded Sapphire New York strip club on Monday, April 27, looking very "legitimate businessman" in a silky black short-sleeved shirt.
He was a long way from Satin Dolls, the real-life suburban New Jersey backdrop for the Sopranos' fictional Bada Bing Club.
But, compared to the swankly 10,000-square-foot Sapphire, located in the original Scores space at 333 East 60th Street in Manhattan, "Bada Bing is a sh*thole!" chirped Mr. Schirripa. [ read full story ]

Las Vegas Casinos Topless Pools A Step Toward Stripper Clubs
Such mainstream casinos as Mandalay Bay and the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino have opened topless, adult-only pools. The hope is that the lure of exposed female flesh will bring new gambling patrons to the casinos. But hot, naked females don't just wander to these locations to be ogled.
Instead, the casinos pay girls from local strip clubs to come over and work on their tans, without tan lines. Sapphire strip club Vice-President John Lee said, "All of the casinos are trying to get gentlemen's club-type entertainment without actually crossing that line." [ read full story ]
