UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva 2 is Live on PPV at Sapphire Las Vegas

In the true holiday spirit, UFC gifts fans with a rematch of one of the most memorable fights in UFC history, Silva vs. Weidman Part 2. The first fight had people buzzing for slv_UFC168_SOCIAL (1)days afterward. Discussions of Weidman’s win being a possible fluke and some even went as far as to say that Silva lost but Weidman didn’t win. However, the fact remains that Weidman took the middleweight title from Silva and slayed the dragon.
Anderson Silva maintained the longest title reign in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, 6 years- 8 months- 22 days. He won 16 straight fights before his loss to Weidman. In fact, Silva was dominating the fight until he decided to start ‘clowning’ Weidman. In the end, it was mistakes made by Silva and Weidman’s serious need to win that ended that first fight.
Weidman is undefeated in both MMA and UFC and doesn’t plan on that changing any time soon. He has proven himself a worthy adversary and fought hard and smart in their first match. He will have a definite pyschological advantage going in.
Before this final championship battle though, there is another rematch worth acknowledging, Ronda Rousey vs. Meisha Tate. Their rivalry goes deeper than the octagon and with the Bantamweight championship on the line, things should get interesting.
