One of the most anticipated bouts on the card is a title fight between current women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate and top contender Amanda Nunes.

UFC 200 Breakdown

The event will be headlined by a UFC Heavyweight Championship rematch between current champion Daniel Cormier and former champion and current interim champion Jon “Bones” Jones.

There will be multiple title fights on the main card for UFC 200 including a UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout between current champion Miesha Tate and top contender Amanda Nunes.

The card is also expected to feature a heavyweight bout between former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and Travis Browne, a middleweight bout between former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi and Derek Brunson, and a welterweight bout between former UFC Welterweight Champion Johnny Hendricks and The Ultimate Fighter: Kelvin Gastelum.

A lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon and The Ultimate Fighter 1 winner and former lightweight title challenger Diego Sanchez was originally booked for UFC 180. However, the bout was cancelled due to both fighters being injured. The fight was later rescheduled for this event. Also, another couple of lightweight bouts between former PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi and Jim Miller, as well as Sage Northcutt and Enrique Marín are expected to take place at this event.

Also on the card there will be a women’s bantamweight bout between former title challenger Cat Zingano and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate winner Julianna Peña,[23] and a bantamweight rematch between former UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw and Raphael Assunção.

UFC announced today that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has been forced off the UFC 197 card due to an injury to the interosseous membrane in his left leg. As a result, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will fight No. 6 Ovince Saint Preux for the interim championship in the main event of UFC 197 on Saturday, April 23 in Las Vegas. Jon “Bones” Jones caught a break at court on March 23 following a traffic stop where he did not have his registration or insurance on his person. “Bones” did, in fact, have the documentation proving he was covered and registered when he arrived to the court room. In light of this discovery, the judge deferred Jones’ sentence, allowing him to fight in UFC 197. [source: mmamania and bloodyelbow]

UFC 197: Cormier vs Jones 2 Breakdown

The UFC 197 event is expected to be headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship rematch between current champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones. The two fighters met previously at UFC 182 in January 2015 with Jones defending his title via unanimous decision. Subsequent to that victory, Jones was stripped of the title and suspended indefinitely from the UFC in connection with a hit-and-run incident that he was involved in. Cormier replaced him and went on to defeat Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 to win the vacant title.
