Miesha Tate Wins UFC 196, Celebrates With Beer and Cake at World’s Largest Gentlemen’s Club [PHOTOS]

Miesha Tate threw her post-fight after party at the World’s Largest Gentlemen’s Club and it was the best thing ever. Here’s a rundown of how the night played out….

By 9PM, not only was the Sapphire Showroom at capacity, but every seat in the 70,000 square foot strip club in Las Vegas was filled. Originally, only the showroom was set to watch the fight, however, so many people showed up for Miesha Tate that Sapphire aired the fight on every screen in the building, with full digital surround sound.

Before long, the co-main event for UFC 196 was underway, and Holly Holm was quickly ahead in the points. The energy at Sapphire was overwhelmingly positive as fans cheered on Miesha Tate. She has been a part of charity events at Sapphire and has become a local favorite of Sapphire patrons.

Miesha took control of the fight in the second round by getting in mount and using her jiu-jitsu skill in her favor against the seasoned boxer.

Holm regained control in the third and fourth round and took the lead in points.

In the fifth and final round Miesha Tate managed to KO Holly Holm with a rear naked choke. Holly did not tap out, falling unconscious while throwing a final one-two combo into the abyss.

Miesha Tate was declared undisputed UFC Bantamweight Champion of the World.

The crowd went wild.

EDIT:

“A non-title welterweight fight between former champion Johny Hendricks (17-3) and Stephen Thompson (11-1), originally scheduled as the UFC 196 co-main event, will now headline the card and be a five-round fight instead of three.

The event took its first hit last weekend, when former heavyweight championCain Velasquez, who was supposed to challenge Fabricio Werdum for the UFC title, withdrew because of an injury. The UFC immediately announced thatStipe Miocic would replace Velasquez, but Werdum pulled out of the matchup the following day because of a back injury.

Werdum (20-5-1) admitted he would have attempted to stay in the fight against Velasquez, but ultimately opted against fighting a new opponent on such short notice with a pre-existing injury. Werdum has stated he could be ready to fight as early as two to three months. Velasquez (13-2) has not offered a timeframe for his return.

UFC 196 will still take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena. In addition to the welterweight headliner, the event will feature a heavyweight fight between Roy Nelson (20-12) and Jared Rosholt (14-2).” – via ESPN GO
